Stockton Chorale Business Manager
The Business Manager of the Stockton Chorale provides secretarial and administrative support for the Chorale and reports directly to the President of the Board of Directors of the Stockton Chorale. The business manager must be motivated and self-disciplined, and able to make responsible decisions within established guidelines, supervise volunteers, as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with conductors, board members, singers, vendors, and the public. The manager must be proficient in modern office management practices and in the use of email, word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
The position is approximately half-time ($12 per hour for 1100 hours per year), although specific responsibilities and time commitment will vary throughout the year, given that the Chorale’s weekly rehearsals and performances are scheduled from September through May.
General responsibilities:
- Prepare and monitor monthly and annual Chorale calendars and develop/maintain electronic control and tracking systems, including singer attendance records, contact lists, donor lists, etc.
- Develop and maintain filing systems for the Chorale’s official records.
- Arrange and coordinate meetings and auditions, including venues for annual meetings, rehearsals, concerts, and other activities.
- Prepare and e-mail the Chorale’s weekly bulletin to all members.
- Arrange and coordinate the production and mailing of materials for concerts, annual fund drives, letters to singers, season ticket fund drives, donor acknowledgements, and other Chorale activities.
- Receive and respond to direct queries, telephone calls, and e-mails in a timely manner.
- Attend monthly board meetings, prepare and distribute agendas and minutes, and prepare monthly business manager’s reports.
