Dr. Edward Cetto, Music Director
Edward
Cetto has served as the Stockton Chorale's conductor and music director
since 1999, the director of choral activities at the University
of the Pacific Conservatory of Music. Dr. Cetto conducts the Pacific
Singers, Oriana Choir, and the University Chorus, and instructs all entering
freshmen and transfer students
in the study of solfeggio. He also is a certified
teacher of Kodály
methodology and is a former conductor of the Stockton
Youth Chorale.
Dr. Cetto has prepared choruses for Michael Tilson Thomas and the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) Philharmonic, the Portland Symphony, and guest conducted the Stockton Symphony. Dr. Cetto has presented and adjudicated at the national convention of the American Choral Directors' Association, and leads regional honor choirs.
Dr. Cetto holds academic degrees from the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford (B.M.Ed.), the Boston Conservatory of Music (M.M.), the Boston Conservatory, and the University of Iowa (D.M.A.), where his dissertation topic was on the madrigals of Vicente Emilio Sojo.
