Stockton Chorale
The Stockton Chorale (largest ensemble) has been the flagship adult chorus of the organization since 1952. Under the direction of Dr. Bruce Southard, the Stockton Chorale is an auditioned ensemble that performs all genres of choral music.
2023-24 Tuition: $155 per semester (August 2023 – December 2023; January 2024 – May 2024). If you sing in more than one group, tuition will remain at $155.
We don’t want to exclude singers because of finances. We have a scholarship fund to help with tuition and concert costumes. There will be an opportunity to confidentially share this need in your Singer Registration Form.
Rehearsals are at Central United Methodist Church, 3400 Pacific Avenue, Stockton CA in the Fireside Room beginning Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 7:00 pm.
Audition Information:
New singers are welcome to schedule an audition, contact the office by emailing office@stocktonchorale.org or call (209) 951-6494) with questions or for more information. Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 19, at Central United Methodist Church. For those who cannot attend, auditions will also be held after rehearsals during the first few weeks of the semester. Here is what you can expect in your audition:
- Range check (Dr. Southard will take you up and down scales to hear your voice in a variety of ranges)
- Tonal Memory (A series of four pitches will be played and you sing them back on “La, la, la, la.”)
- Prepared song that shows Dr. Southard where you sing best (keep it to 60 seconds). It will be unaccompanied.
- Basic sight-singing check.
